About Auli Snow Weekend
Auli, perched between 2,500 and 3,050 metres in the Chamoli district, is India's premier skiing destination and a year-round mountain retreat. The slopes, originally developed by the French in the 1960s, offer 3 km of groomed runs surrounded by ancient oak and conifer forests with the magnificent Nanda Devi (7,816 m) as a constant backdrop.
The journey to Auli is an adventure in itself — the 4-km gondola ride from Joshimath is the longest cable car in Asia, soaring over deep valleys with unobstructed views of peaks like Kamet, Mana, and Dunagiri. In winter, the slopes transform into a pristine white playground; in summer and autumn, they become lush alpine meadows carpeted with wildflowers and ideal for hiking.
This three-day itinerary includes ski lessons for beginners, equipment rental, and a visit to the ancient Joshimath town — the winter seat of Lord Badrinath and a vital stop on the Char Dham circuit. Whether you come for the powder snow or the panoramic views, Auli delivers an unforgettable high-altitude weekend.
